Dear ,

It’s great to have made it through the craziness of the end of the financial year and to take a moment to reflect on our activities and the impact of the last three months – there is much to be excited about!

New Board Members
Since our March update, we have formally welcomed two fantastic and highly experienced Tanya Hundloe (Co-Chair) and Heiko Plange Korndoerfer (Director).

New board members

Tanya is the Managing Director of Social Money Solutions, which she founded in 2007 following a 15-year career in strategic fundraising and marketing roles in the not-for-profit sector. She is a past Non-Executive Director of charitable entities and a Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia.

Heiko is an accomplished management and marketing professional with a proven track record of success managing multi-million-dollar capital campaigns.  Heiko is a Fellow of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and an Associate Fellow of AIM WA.

Responsible Investing
Another important milestone to celebrate is that we have now ultimately amplified the impact of your giving! Our responsible investing approach aims to contribute to a stronger, fairer and more sustainable world; improve the overall financial returns of the portfolio; and increase our investment strategy’s alignment with the values of the foundation and our giving community.

To assist us in this process, we appointed Boutique Advisers (members of Responsible Investing Association Australasia) with the support of Zenith Investment Partners, one of Australia’s most respected research and investment consultancies.

Impact100 Fremantle
Impact100 Fremantle 2021 has been officially launched! This special program consists of a collaborative giving group in Fremantle who come together to pool their donations towards making one primary grant of $100,000 each year – a game-changing grant – empowering a local charity to dream bigger.

It is a simple idea that’s having a big impact – 100 members each give $1,000 and one vote to decide at the annual awards night, where the total of $100,000 goes.

All of us at Fremantle Foundation are so grateful to see the impact that has been made.  Together with all the donors over the last 8 years, we have made eight game-changing grants of $100,000 to local community organisations, and a total of $935,000 in grants overall. This upcoming year we are hoping to exceed $1 million in grants from Impact100 Fremantle.

As announced previously we're working on creating an exciting new way of creating a collective impact in 2022,  so this year will be the final year we are launching Impact100 Fremantle  - and this year will be run slightly different.

When we have received $115,000 in donations (to cover one major grant of $100,000 and 3 runners up grants of $5,000) we will open Impact100 Fremantle for Expressions of Interest; hold a grant assessment meeting; conduct site visits to the finalists and then host the Voting & Awards Night – all within 3 months.

Please help us reach our goal of $1 million dollars and donate to Impact 100 Fremantle now and go help us to go out with a bang!  If you haven't already RSVP'd to our upcoming Impact100 Fremantle planning meeting on Monday 26 July, you can RSVP here.

Seacorp & St Patrick's Community Support Centre
The Seacorp Fund was established in 2017 as part of its commitment to making a positive difference in the Western Australian Community with a special focus on male homelessness.

Since this time the fund has distributed almost $150,000 to local community organisations, including regular grants to St Patrick's Community Support Centre and Black Swan Health's, Freo Street Doctor.

Recently Seacorp's Managing Director, Craig Thompson visited St Pats to check out the brand new doors that had been installed with a grant from The Seacorp Fund.  These doors are a critical piece of infrastructure for the centre, providing daytime and after-hours access to clients and residents.

WA Relief & Recovery Fund: Wooroloo Bushfires
Following the Perth Hills bushfire in February 2021, Fremantle Foundation called for donations to support those affected by the fires across the focus areas of: Emergency Support; Supporting Communities, and Rebuilding.

Once again the Fremantle Foundation community came together to support those who had lost their homes, properties and livelihoods by raising over $25,000.

The majority of these grants have now been distributed to local charitable organisations who were working on the ground to support those affected and continue to do so now, with special thanks to the City of Swan for recommending some of these organisations to receive a grant.

You can read more about these projects here.

AFL Rams Community Support Fund
Established in the wake of Cyclone Seroja by a group of ex and current AFL players from Northampton, the AFL Rams Community Support Fund has raised over $58,000 to date.  With an upcoming sold-out event at Optus Stadium in August, they are hoping to raise a further $200,000.  You can find more information about the fund on their facebook page or make a donation to their efforts here

AFLRAMS

Year in Review
Over the 2020/21 financial period, our community of 70 funds distributed 37 grants to 30 organisations.  Together we granted $492,874 in total equating to 18% of our corpus and raised over $1M in funds.

If you haven’t already or there is someone you know, who would like to start a fund and begin building a legacy of charitable giving, we would love to hear from you.

Thank you for caring about the community that we live in and contributing to a stronger, fairer and more sustainable world.

Warm regards
